Kingswood At Home

If great design, tailored craftsmanship and furniture built around the way you live matter to you, Kingswood At Home delivers a genuinely bespoke approach. In this Community Hub feature, we speak with Natalie Lamont about what truly bespoke design means in practice. Serving homes across Surrey, Kingswood At Home’s work shows how thoughtful craftsmanship and local expertise can transform everyday spaces into homes that feel calm, functional and entirely personal.

What attracted you to join Kingswood At Home, and how does your background influence your approach to bespoke furniture solutions?

I trained as a plumber in the early 2000s and spent the next 20 years immersed in bathrooms and kitchens. I ran my own installation business in London, worked as a designer in a showroom in Godalming, and later became a project manager for a kitchen company in Haslemere, where I also learned AutoCAD. Using the same software as architects sparked my passion for design and led me to set up my own business specialising in bespoke joinery kitchens, which naturally expanded into designing furniture for every room in the home.

That experience culminated in rebuilding my own five-bedroom home, where I designed every internal detail and worked closely with contractors to deliver the project in just 10 months. It clarified exactly how I wanted to work going forward.

After the build, I wanted to return to being part of a team. When I met Dan and Mike at Kingswood, I knew it was the right fit. Their family-run ethos, passion for truly bespoke design and ability to deliver solutions for the whole home really stood out. I quickly realised how much creative opportunity there is beyond kitchens, and I haven’t looked back.

What makes Kingswood’s approach to design unique compared to others in the industry?

At Kingswood At Home, bespoke means far more than adjusting standard sizes. Every design is created from scratch around how our clients live, their personal style, and how they want their home to function. There are no templates, every piece is genuinely one of a kind.

We also specialise in challenging architectural spaces features such as sloping ceilings eaves, alcoves and awkward angles, transforming them into beautifully functional spaces.

Our service is fully end-to-end, from in-home design and detailed drawings through to expert installation and dedicated aftercare, all backed by a 25-year guarantee for complete peace of mind.

How do you tailor designs to suit each client’s home, lifestyle, and personal style?

The design process starts with understanding who will be using the space and how. Whether it’s a master bedroom, dressing room, home office or hallway, every design needs to reflect the user’s lifestyle and vision.

Because everything we do is fully bespoke, I can explore all possibilities, encouraging clients to be bold if they want to try something different, while also enjoying the challenge of smaller or more complex spaces. Using AutoCAD and ArtiCAD, I produce either detailed 2D drawings or immersive 3D renders, helping clients visualise every element of the room, from finishes and lighting to furniture placement and views.

How do Kingswood’s services benefit Surrey residents specifically, and what impact does it have on their homes and daily lives?

Many Surrey homes feature sloping ceilings and unusual layouts, which is where bespoke fitted furniture makes a real difference. Our designs maximise every inch of space, creating significantly more storage without the need for major renovation.

Our custom home offices, dressing rooms, media units and hallway solutions support modern lifestyles, particularly for hybrid workers and busy families. By neatly concealing everyday clutter, we help create calmer, more organised homes that feel easier and more enjoyable to live in.

Do you have a favourite project that really showcases what makes Kingswood special?

My favourite projects are those where a client has a clear feeling about what they want but can’t quite visualise it until they see the design brought to life in a 3D render. Helping turn that idea into reality is incredibly rewarding.

I also love working on multiple rooms within a home, combining different styles, colours and materials while ensuring everything flows cohesively. Having the creative freedom to explore ideas, supported by Kingswood’s expert team, is a real privilege, and I’m grateful to be part of such a passionate and forward-thinking company.
