Forge on the Green

Nestled in the heart of the Surrey Hills, Forge on the Green is a charming, laid-back coffee haven where simple, thoughtful food meets exceptionally good coffee. Set beside the village green, it’s the kind of place where locals linger, walkers refuel, and visitors quickly feel at home. With its welcoming atmosphere, small-batch roasts, and a focus on quality with every cup and plate, Forge on the Green has become a beloved spot for anyone looking to slow down, savour something delicious, and enjoy the best of village life.

This month, we’re joined by Susie, Grantley’s Assistant Lettings Manager and a passionate advocate for all things local. As one of her favourite community gems, Susie is the perfect person to share more about what makes Forge on the Green so special.

How did you first discover Forge on the Green, and what made it stand out to you?

I first heard about Forge on the Green through friends and neighbours while living in Shalford. From the moment I visited, I was struck by the quality of the coffee, the inviting atmosphere, and the fresh, thoughtfully designed interior. It’s a place that immediately feels welcoming.

What do you love most about the atmosphere at Forge on the Green?

(E.g., the setting, the people, the vibe, the village feel, the sausage rolls!)

Honestly, it’s everything! The friendly, welcoming team, the mix of locals which gives it a real village feel, and the fact that it’s also a popular stopping point for cyclists and walkers. Oh, and I can’t forget the amazing sausage rolls, they’re legendary!

From your perspective as someone working in the local property community, why is Forge on the Green such an asset to the area?

From a property perspective, local coffee shops like Forge on the Green are a real asset because they help make the area more attractive to residents and prospective buyers. It’s not just about great coffee but about creating a welcoming hub where people gather, connect, and feel part of the community. Spaces like this contribute to the village’s character and make living here even more appealing.

Aside from Forge on the Green, what other local spots or hidden gems would you recommend to people exploring the area?

For families, we recently tried the newly opened soft play at the Willinghurst Estate, ‘Wild-n-Out’, which was fantastic for toddlers. They’re also starting their Christmas Market on weekends from the end of November, offering festive treats and a wonderful range of Christmas goodies. It’s definitely worth a visit!
